Pseudocydonia sinensis

Pseudocydonia sinensis è un arbusto o alberello deciduo o semi-sempreverde espanso, con corteccia desquamante grigio bruno scuro e bianca e foglie ovali, finemente seghettate, verde scuro, lunghe fino a 10cm. A metà e tarda primavera produce fiori solitari a coppa, rosa chiaro, larghi 4cm, seguiti da frutti ovoidali gialli lunghi fino a 15cm, che maturano in inverno e sono molto profumati.

Pseudocydonia sinensis is a deciduous or semi-evergreen tree, with a dense, twiggy crown. The leaves are alternately arranged, simple, 6–12 cm long and 3–6 cm broad, and have a serrated margin. The flowers are 4 cm diameter, with five pale pink petals; flowering is in mid spring. The fruit is a large ovoid pome 12–17 cm long with five carpels; it gives off an intense, sweet smell and it ripens in late autumn.
